Ian Chapman has been appointed chief executive officer of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) earlier this month, according to a statement on the organisation’s website.
Mr Chapman will assume the new role on 1 October, succeeding current CEO Steve Cowley, the statement said. Mr Chapman will mainly lead the UK’s magnetic confinement fusion research programme at Culham Science Centre (CSC), the UKAEA said. The UKAEA carries out fusion energy research on behalf of the UK government at the CSC near Abingdon in Oxfordshire.
