Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom is seeing “considerable interest” from French companies in cooperating on Rosatom projects abroad, the director of the company’s international business department Nikolay Drozdov told a workshop on Russian-French cooperation in nuclear energy in Paris.

Mr Drozdov said a number of French companies have applied for certification as qualified suppliers of equipment and services for Finland’s Hanhikivi nuclear power plant project, which is using Russian reactor technology.

Mr Drozdov said for the first time Rosatom is discussing not only the possibility of French companies participating in Rosatom’s nuclear plant construction projects in Russia and in third countries, but also the possibility of Russian companies helping with service, modernisation and lifetime extension projects for reactors in France.
