Like many other websites, SONE uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors navigate our site.
Google immediately anonymizes your IP address to protect your privacy. Unless you opt out, Google associates your web browser with a random identifier that is not linked to your other personal information. Google saves this random identifier as a “cookie”, which is used to track which pages you visit on this website, and retains the usage data for 14 months from the last time you visit.
Opinions vary about whether this this random identifier compromises your privacy. Nevertheless, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduced by the European Union, and also incorporated into UK law on 1 January 2021, classifies the Google random identifier as Personal Identification Information. This means that we must obtain your permission before we can use it.
