NuGen has signed a long-term agreement with Sellafield Ltd and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to support “safe and compliant operations” at its Moorside nuclear site in Cumbria, northwest England.
The agreement was signed at the same time as NuGen’s recent land deal with the NDA, which confirmed the Moorside site, near Sellafield, as suitable for the construction of three Westinghouse AP1000 reactors. NuGen said all three parties had been working under temporary arrangements for some time, but the long-term agreement provides “a firm and continuous commitment” on cooperation. The agreement ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements including relevant nuclear regulations, NuGen said.
